Area Seniors Receive $8000 in Scholarships

8 Area Seniors Receive $8000 in Scholarships from Dakotaland Federal Credit Union

Huron, South Dakota - April 13, 2017 Dakotaland Federal Credit Union recently honored 8 area youth with $8000 in College Scholarships for the 2017-18 school year. Each recipient completed a written application and submitted an essay highlighting the positive changes they would make in their communities if given the opportunity. Those submissions were judged by a scholarship committee made up of 10 individuals. “Our scholarship applicants and their list of accomplishments were just short of amazing. We have every reason to be proud of our area credit union youth. This year’s judging process proved to be just as challenging as previous years, but also generated a number of record scores”, stated Scholarship Committee Member and Member Services Representative, Colleen Knutson of the Volga Branch Office.

The following winners were each awarded $1000 to use toward their continued education. Bailey Rudebusch of Howard, SD will graduate from Howard High School and will be attending the University of Sioux Falls in Sioux Falls, SD majoring in Exercise Science with a Physical Therapy emphasis. Kristina Theodosopoulos of Brookings, SD will graduate from Brookings High School and will be attending Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD majoring in Biology and Pre-Optometry. Paul “Trey” Joseph Cosato, III from Redfield, SD will graduate from Redfield High School and will be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD majoring in Computer Science or Economics. Rebecca Goehner of Huron, SD is currently attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD working on her Masters in Nursing/Family Nurse Practitioner. Tiffany Miller of Bancroft, SD will graduate from Iroquois High School and will be attending Dakota Wesleyan University in Mitchell, SD majoring in Athletic Training. Spencer Mohr of Mitchell, SD will graduate from Mitchell High School and will be attending West Point, US Military Academy in New York majoring in Mechanical Engineering. Nicolette Schmidt of Redfield, SD will graduate from Redfield High School and will be attending Augustana University in Sioux Falls, SD majoring in Elementary Education. Shannon Katz of Huron, SD will graduate from Huron High School and will be attending South Dakota State University in Brookings, SD majoring in Pharmacy.

“Our ongoing commitment to the success of our young members has inspired us to invest in their futures through scholarships and student loans. We are delighted to see the accomplishments and goals these students have reached. It is our intent to assist them in their future ambitions anyway we can”, added Credit Union President, Dan Cumbee.
