Accountant

Job Overview:
Under the direction of the Dakotaland Financial Services Manager the employee will support in providing services in the areas of tax preparation and payroll processing. Applicant will prepare and process payrolls and prepare tax returns along with other tax related documents. Dakotaland Financial Services LLC is a wholly owned CUSO (Credit Union Service Organization) of Dakotaland Federal Credit Union. We are staffed with the expertise and experience to assist with a full line of accounting services including, bookkeeping, payroll, tax planning and preparation, and other related offerings.
Applicant must be bondable and pass a background check. A valid driver’s license is required for this position.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Record numerical and financial data to produce financial records.
- Generate accounting reports for cash receipts, accounts payable, and receivable, expenditures, and profits and losses.
- Reconcile and report differences or issues found in financial records.
- Prepare personal tax returns.
- Prepare business tax returns.
- Process payrolls and prepare payroll tax deposits.
- Prepare quarterly and annual payroll reporting requirements and annual bookkeeping forms.
- Prepare Sale Tax Returns.
- Maintain client’s confidence and protect confidential information at all times.
- Stay current on training and education requirements to remain compliant with various federal, state, and local tax and accounting requirements.
- Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Education & Experience:
A bachelor’s degree or formal education or certification in accounting plus a minimum of two years of experience in tax preparation and bookkeeping and payroll is required for the position. Four years of tax preparation experience and two years of payroll and bookkeeping experience may be considered in lieu of education requirement. Applicant must be able to use QuickBooks or similar accounting software. Position requires proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite or similar software. Applicant must possess good judgement and have a strong working knowledge of clerical procedures and the ability to communicate effectively in person, over the phone, or by email.
Schedule:
8:00am – 5:00pm (Mon – Fri)
*Extended hours and Saturdays are expected during Tax Season (December – April)
Wage:
Competitive wage dependent on experience/education. EOE.
